Participation in World Masters Championships, Rome, July 2024
Bangladesh participating in International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Masters Championships presented by Stag Global, which was previously known as The World Veterans Championships. The event took place in Rome from July 6th to July 14th 2024, at the Nuova Fiera di Roma (Rome Exhibition Center), Rome, Italy.
This year the championship made a history with over 6,000 registrations, from 110 member associations over the globe, was the largest TT gathering till today. It was divided into 11 categories featuring Singles and Doubles for both men and women as well as mixed doubles executed in 350 TT tables.
Para Table Tennis was also included for the first time which made Rome 2024 the most inclusive World Masters Table Tennis Championships ever. Germany, Italy, and France had largest number of athletes, while China, Japan, and India lead the Asian contingent spanning over from 40 years to 99 years which truly showed how TT is a sport for all age group.
Bangladesh was represented by four players namely Md. Saidul Haque Sadi (former national champion 1981, 1984, 1985 & 1995 & National Awardee 2008), Al Maruf Anayet Hossain, Jafar Sadeque Chowdhury, and Nazmul Huq Nipon. The games were highly competitive, each of the Bangladeshi players gave their best.
